High Line Park

This Year we trying to do something different with some friends, my husband and I decide to go downtown Manhattan , and take our friends to this wonderful park called High Line Park.

For some of our readers maybe you don't know where is that well dears fellows is in the Big Apple New York City , Manhattan Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues Gansevoort Street to West 20th Street. between West 20th and West 30th Streets. Its kind of confused, but is really easy to get there.

Need really a comfort shoes because you will do a lot of walk but is worthy, the view downtown is magnificent . Before that let give you a little bit of history taken from the Wikipedia .

In 1847, where the construction in New york City the street-level railroad tracks down Manhattan’s West Side, were after some many accidents the called the Death Avenue, them after so many talks in 1929 NYC approved to reopen the tracks , in 1934 the train will be pass again originally ran from 34th Street to St. John's Park Terminal at Spring Street.
It connected directly to factories and warehouses, allowing trains to roll right inside buildings. Milk, meat, produce, and raw and manufactured goods could be transported and unloaded without disturbing traffic on the streets. The last train ran in 1980 with three carloads of frozen turkeys.
But in 1999, neighborhood residents Robert Hammond and Joshua David created the community group Friends of the High Line to push the idea of turning the High Line into an elevated park or
greenway, similar to the Promenade Plantée in Paris.June 8, 2009 was the dream come true where open to the public and this summer 2011 the open to the public the last part of the tracks .
The Park is 1mile of long walk so is a good place to run :-), But not only that its have the most beautiful flowers and ornamental grass, and of course trees is practically a big yard that you can dream
They also have inside the park a food courtyard or porch as they called them. Not only that but they have very modern unique lounge chairs, bench etc. Thursday nights in the summer they have dance and live music , we didn’t do it this summer but next summer 2012 we will do.
So if you need more info about the park here is they web:http://www.thehighline.org.
